President's end-of-year message

December 30, 2017

Dear WGSDCA Members & Friends,

As  2017 comes to an end, I want to thank our members for their continued dedication to the WGSDCA and their commitment to our working dogs and the sport of IPO. On behalf of the Organisation, I also want to thank Herr Uwe Stolpe for his continued support and guidance.

I thank my Board of Management colleagues as we wrap up an eventful 2017 and shift our momentum into the next calendar year. The past 12 months have been marked by an immense amount of work that at times fueled  some intense debates, which ultimately led the WGSDCA BOM to propose some organisational changes to further strengthen the Organisation. The change proposals were unanimously supported by our members at the WGSDCA Annual Meeting. I believe this is a significant achievement, as it reflects a united Organisation.

We saw several  trials hosted by our Club Affiliates and we had another outstanding WGSDCA IPO National Championship hosted by Metro Dogsport Club. I am certain that I speak on the behalf of all the WGSDCA members, when thanking SV Judge Hoerst Dieger Träger for accepting the invitation to officiate at the 2017 National Championship. Having the opportunity to be judged by such a calibre judge is an invaluable experience.

I congratulate all who trialed during 2017 – keep up the good work. We have a lot of new dogs under education, and I look forward to following the progression of these dogs.

Not all the handlers achieved the results they had hope for in 2017, but it is clear that all our handlers, with their various team members behind them, continue to put  a tremendous amount of work in their dogs – and I am sure - much to the delight of these dogs.

A shout out must go to our Trainer Helpers, Club Helpers, Track-layers, Judges, Trainers, Affiliate Club Committees and many other untitled individuals whose dedication to IPO Dog Sport quite simply is the foundation of this Organisation. Thanks for being part of the WGSDCA and thanks so much for helping this Organisation to grow.

As we reflect on the past year, I believe that we have many reasons to have enormous pride in our accomplishments and look forward with enthusiasm to Year 2018. Together, we will maintain our momentum and actively work to moving the WGSDCA forward. We will continue to engage actively in public relations, with canine key leaders, the SV/WUSV and overseas experienced IPO handlers/trainers/helpers/judges as we stand tall in proclaiming a right to partake in the internationally recognised sport of IPO for the health and welfare of the Australian working dog, particularly the German Shepherd Dog.

Thank you for all you do for the WGSDCA, for our members and their dogs.  I invite you to join me in anticipating what we will accomplish together in the year to come.

I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2018.

Sanne  - WGSDCA President
