The WGSDCA recently held another Trial Helper Workshop in Brisbane, Queensland and we are pleased to see a participation increase in our educational Helper Development Program.
The Trial Helper Workshops aims to teach and guide new Helpers and the Program covers the following:
Theory & Video presentations (understanding field layout and trial helper positioning during a trial)
Fitness (running, sprinting, push ups)
The techniques behind Hold and bark, escape, drive, side/back transport
Proper positioning for judge and handler
Theory and practice of IPO routines (understanding field layout and trial helper positioning)
Practical exercises are initially trained without dogs to ensure Helpers have the necessary skill sets before they work any dogs.
