Last weekend the WGSDCA hosted another Helper Trial Seminar for aspiring WGSDCA Helpers. The seminar was run by WGSDCA Director of Judges, Reg Worth, WGSDCA Director of Helpers, Jay Balakrishnan and WGSDCA Helper, Shane Asanuma.
"The WGSDCA Trial Helper Seminar in Brisbane on the weekend was sick! Met a bunch of awesome Helpers, learned heaps & got in some much needed time in the sleeve with awesome dogs! Thanks to Reg Worth, Jay Balakrishnan & Shane Asanuma for putting on the seminar making it happen, your input, help & criticisms throughout the weekend - it was much appreciated and enabled me to learn a lot. Really enjoyed the whole thing and can't wait for the next one!" - Cole Benji.
We thank Wild Dog Photography for capturing the highlights of the seminar and our affiliated Member Club, Brisbane Sporting Dog Club, who provided the grounds.
The WGSDCA Helper Program includes exercises to develop helper skills (e.g. mechanics, body positioning, equipment positioning, balance, timing, awareness, presence, attitude, etc) to enable the individual to properly and safely execute the Part C exercises as described in the FCI IPO Trial regulations. The Helper Program is run by the WGSDCA Director of Helpers who is assisted by licensed Helper Teachers.
All WGSDCA licensed Helpers are evaluated once every three years to maintain their license. A new helper has to pass practical and written examination tests as well as participated in at least three Helper Seminars to become a licensed Club Helper. Please contact our Director of Helpers if you have any inquiries regarding our Helper Program.
Keep an eye on the WGSDCA Event Calendar for our next Helper Seminar.
